Indian e-commerce giant Flipkart launches Metaverse shopping experience

Flipkart launches a metaverse shopping experience for users; so that they can find and purchase new items more interactively. The Indian e-commerce giant’s latest gamble is its experiments with web3 solutions to supercharge its customer experience. The Walmart-backed Bengaluru-based startup has joined with IDEO, a Polygon-incubated firm, to develop the ‘Flipverse’ metaverse product. The product is in the experimental stage and hopes to generate interest throughout the holiday season this month.

Flipverse, which will be accessible on Flipkart’s Android app on Monday, will provide customers with “gamified, dynamic, and immersive” experiences in which they can earn Super coins, the company’s loyalty points, and as digital collectibles from partner businesses when they make purchases. Metaverse also has a selection of casual games.

Customers can purchase as if they were physically there in a virtual store via their smartphone with this metaverse shopping experience

According to the firm, the metaverse shopping experience aims to include gamification and loyalty points into the shopping experience, allowing users to acquire super coins and digital collectibles from various companies that have already agreed to participate in this experimental program. Flipkart collaborated with IDEO, a Polygon-incubated startup, to develop the new platform and prepare the metaverse purchasing experience for this month’s debut.

Puma, Noise, Tokyo Talkies, Campus, VIP, and Himalaya are among the essential partners that have already agreed to participate in Flipkart’s metaverse and will be capable of offering their own personalized experiences and booths.

The Metaverse impact on Retail

It will be interesting to see how the metaverse affects customer and company shopping experiences. Our senses are confined to sight and hearing, leaving much to be desired. Our senses of smell, touch, and taste, which are absent in the metaverse, play a significant part in our real-world experiences, prompting us to wonder:

  • How can digital spaces make up for this?
  • How can businesses use the various senses to provide consumers with an immersive experience?
  • And, in an environment confined to sight and sound, how will we duplicate real-world experiences?

Today’s immersive technologies will impact the future expansion of e-commerce

Metaverse is one of the biggest revolutions in this sector with enormous potential. With the adoption of the Metaverse and web3 platforms by many businesses in India, the debut of Flipverse will continue to influence innovative industries such as e-commerce and increase the consumer experience while giving a gamified and immersive purchasing experience. Flipverse’s early phase would comprise just one Android-only experience.

What is the main idea behind the Metaverse Shopping Experience?

The goal is for millions of consumers to experience Flipverse and open the doors to the future of shopping. The company’s management acknowledged that its web3 solutions are still in the early stages, but they are confident they will become critical to Flipkart’s future. Flipkart and Amazon are growing their offerings to gain new customers in the South Asian market and retain existing ones. We were the first Indian company to provide Web 2.0-based commerce 15 years ago.

Amazon launched a QVC-style live stream shopping experience in India late last month, hiring an army of more than 150 producers to present live streaming and hawk things in the broadcasts. The combination of well-known brands and Flipkart’s e-commerce skills in a virtual environment has the potential to change the way we buy online. The Flipverse will be a vivid and visible manifestation of the Metaverse.

Polygon’s extended relationship with Flipkart is the latest triumph in its constant pursuit of large corporations. Recently, the Ethereum scaling platform collaborated with various organizations, including Stripe, Meta, and Starbucks. Flipverse is not Flipkart’s first foray into web3. Earlier this year, the company teamed with Carl Pei’s Nothing to provide exclusive NFTs to anyone who bought a smartphone through the platform.

Today’s immersive technologies will impact the future expansion of e-commerce, and Metaverse shopping experience is one of the biggest revolutions in this sector with enormous potential. While we have just scratched the surface of what is possible in the Metaverse, we believe that e-commerce will be a game changer.
